ABSTRACT
Hearing loss, whether sudden or gradually progressive, is a significant health and socioeconomic problem. Sudden, idiopathic, sensorineural hearing loss is a great concern for both doctors and patients. Case report: Patient E.R., 27 years old, was admitted to the Department of Otolaryngology, Laryngological Oncology, Audiology and Phoniatrics of the Military Medical Academy Memorial Teaching Hospital of the Medical University of Lodz – Central Veterans’ Hospital due to the feeling of obstruction in the right ear accompanied by tinnitus and severe dizziness of a variable nature. The audiological and otoneurological diagnostics showed a sudden deafness of the right ear, MRI of the cerebellopontine angles showed the neurovascular conflict on both sides. Pharmacological therapy was introduced, however, it did not bring the expected results, therefore hyperbaric oxygen treatment was ordered. Sudden sensorineural deafness in about 90% cases is an idiopathic disease, the cause of which remains unknown. In other cases, it is possible in all likelihood to indicate the onset cause. One of them may be neurovascular conflict.
