ABSTRACT
A research study was conducted on the occasion of the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Warsaw fought in 1920, in order to find out what and how functioning of military hospitals in Warsaw during battles that were taking place in the foreground of this city had been reported by Warsaw press. Digitalised year’s issues of journals published 100 years ago were reviewed for this purpose. Articles on the subject were found in the “Gazeta Warszawska”, the “Kurier Warszawski” and the “Tygodnik Ilustrowany”. They were referring to the Ujazdowski Hospital (the Main Military Hospital), the Red Cross Hospital and the Military Hospital of Mołodeczno, evacuated to Warsaw. The paper presents parts of those articles with added biographical notes on people mentioned in them. Photos illustrating the medical support rendered within the area of war operations and in military hospitals were digitally restored, and archival pictures of the hospitals described were added. The press information found, so far never referred to in the literature on the subject, constitutes a valuable supplement of the source base for research on the history of military hospitals in the time of the Polish‑Soviet War of 1920.
