ABSTRACT
Esthetic and natural medicine has been recently growing in popularity in Poland. Alhough severe complication are rare, they can be fatal. We present a case of 44‑year‑old female with cardiac tamponade caused by a damage of the right ventricle with an acupuncture needle. She underwent acupuncture and mesotherapy with her own plasma a few hours before collapse which caused admission to the hospital. Because of rapidly developing shock the patient was admitted to the intensive care unit. There, a cardiac tamponade was diagnosed and the patient was transferred to the cardiosurgical operation theatre. Sternotomy was performed and the tamponade was drained. Then, the right ventricle perforation was sutured. The patient condition improved and she was discharged home in good condition after a 12‑day treatment.
