ABSTRACT
Ultrasonography is a commonly used diagnostic method. It has many advantages, like its availability, safety and user‑friendliness. Research protocols were drawn up in life‑threatening situations, including the BLUE‑protocol allowing for differentiation of pleural pneumothorax, fluid in the pleural cavity, pulmonary edema, pulmonary embolism or pneumonia and exacerbation of COPD. Pulmonary ultrasound also enables monitoring of the patient‘s condition and the level of his fluid management.
