ABSTRACT
Infective endocarditis is a well‑known cardiovascular disease that is associated with poor prognosis. Its prevalence is estimated at 1.7–7.9 cases per 100,000 people [1]. Although recently, significant progress in the diagnosis and treatment of infective endocarditis has been made, mortality from this disease remains high. Mortality ranges from 13 to 25%, and further 9–20% of patients die within the first year after being discharged from a hospital [1]. The diversity of clinical manifestation makes diagnosis difficult. Moreover, treatment often requires interdisciplinary cooperation of numerous specialists. The paper presents a patient whose case perfectly illustrates, how insidious this disease is, and how important it is to involve various specialists in its treatment.
